Herbivore Aggression & Personal Space

When herbivores may fight, and how Personal Space works.

H1 General Conduct

Herbivores are strictly prohibited from hunting or initiating attacks on other animals.

H1.1

Herbivores may only engage in combat when their Personal Space is violated by a perceived threat. Unprovoked aggression is forbidden.

H2 Defining Personal Space

Every herbivore is surrounded by an invisible zone of Personal Space. Under standard conditions, this zone extends 1 Rhino Length in all directions.

H2.1

A herbivore loses its right to Personal Space if it moves or encroaches upon the Personal Space of another animal. A standing herbivore retains its rights.

H3 Parental Protection Rights

A herbivore with offspring in the Baby or Juvenile stage is granted extended defensive privileges.

During this period, the herbivore’s Personal Space expands from 1 Rhino Length to 2 Rhino Lengths in all directions, granting a larger protective radius.

These expanded rights expire immediately once the offspring reach the Subadult stage. From that moment, standard Personal Space rules (1 Rhino Length) apply to both parent and young.

H3.1

The parent may initiate an attack if a carnivore enters this expanded Personal Space with apparent hostile intent (e.g., stalking, aggressive approach).

H4 Engagement Rules

A fight that originates within a herbivore’s Personal Space concludes only when a body falls.

H4.1

Carnivores may enter a herbivore’s Personal Space only if they intend to initiate an attack. Loitering or lingering within this zone without intent is a violation.

H4.2

A herbivore may attack any animal within its Personal Space without prior warning.

H4.3

If a carnivore attacks a member of a herbivore group, all members of that group are permitted to join the fight.

H4.4

If a carnivore enters Personal Space and then retreats to a distance of 2 Rhino Lengths from the herbivore, the conflict officially ends.

H4.5

Herbivores are strictly prohibited from pursuing a carnivore once it has retreated beyond the 2 Rhino Length threshold.

3

Natural Defenses & Advantages

Safe zones, water, and rocks.

N1 Natural Defenses

Natural Defenses are designated safe zones where animals cannot be attacked under any circumstances. These areas may only be used to escape combat if the animal is not in immediate danger of death. Access is strictly species-specific.

Natural DefenseWho can use it
TreesLeopards and all bird species only
Burrows / Underground TunnelsMeerkats and warthogs
DensHyenas, wild dogs, and rabbits
Crocodile NestsHatchling and juvenile crocodiles only. Protection extends within 1 rhino length from the nest.
Logs and StumpsMeerkats only
Bird NestsAll bird species, within 1 rhino length from the nest

Note: Natural Defenses are inviolable and cannot be contested by any means.

N1 Rules

N1.1

Attacking an animal within its designated Natural Defense is prohibited.

N1.2

Using a Natural Defense without species eligibility is prohibited.

N1.3

Using a Natural Defense while in immediate danger of death is prohibited.

N2 Water

N2.1

During combat, it is prohibited to use water to hide or escape. Only aquatic animals can use it as a natural advantage:

  • Hippos
  • Crocodiles
  • Snakes
N2.2

You cannot die in the water as ANY animal. If you are about to die, you must leave it. Death in water will be considered as body denial.

N2 Rocks

Rocks are accessible to any animal with a jump mechanic, as well as birds capable of landing on them. Animals may use rocks to escape an ongoing fight. However, this does not grant immunity: other jump-capable animals may follow and continue combat on the same rock, provided they can reach it.

Example: If a leopard jumps onto a rock that a lioness can also climb, the leopard is not protected and combat may continue.

N2.3

Animals without a jump mechanic are strictly prohibited from climbing rocks under any circumstances.

Example: Crocodiles may not climb rocks to pursue or attack another animal.

4

Basic Rules

Stalking, killing, spawns, calls, territory, and exploits.

B1 Stalking Prohibition

B1.1

It is strictly forbidden to follow or actively observe the same player or group with the intent of killing them. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Leaving a group, reconnecting, and then targeting the same group for elimination.
  • Intentionally attacking the same player or group multiple times in succession.

B2 Mass Killing

B2.1

Performing multiple kills within a short timeframe constitutes mass killing and is strictly prohibited.

Penalty: Players found guilty of mass killing will receive a slay + ban until appeal.

B3 Revenge Killing

B3.1

Players are expressly forbidden from switching animals or respawning with the purpose of fighting or killing a group that has just eliminated them.

Penalty: Players found guilty of revenge killing will receive a 24h ban.

Timer: Revenge killing timer is 5 minutes.

B4 Spawn Protection

Players are granted a 30-second grace period following respawn to leave the immediate spawn area unharmed.

B4.1

Attacking a player within their 30-second spawn protection grace period is prohibited.

Note: On Plain there is no spawn protection timer. Players respawn there without any safe period.

B5 Friendly Actions and Call 2

Players should be careful with friendly communications: using “Call 2” (friendly call) imposes a 5-minute friendly timer on the group that made the Call 2.

B5.1

A group that uses Call 2 attacking the receiving group within the 5-minute timer is prohibited.

However, the group that received the call (and did not respond with a Call 2 of their own) is still allowed to attack.

Note: When a player calls, the rule applies to their entire group.

B6 Aquatic Territory Limits

B6.1

Only 2 groups of aquatic species (Hippos, Snakes, Crocodiles) may occupy a single lake or river at any given time. More groups occupying the same lake or river is prohibited.

If another group wishes to claim the lake, they must initiate combat to contest the territory. The fight may take place in the water, but body denying is prohibited.

The losing group is required to vacate the area following the encounter. They must leave the water source they were originally in, so that a maximum of 2 groups remain. If the losing group remains in the area, the winning group is allowed to attack them until they leave.

B7 Group Switching Cooldown

When a player leaves one group and joins another, a mandatory 5-minute friendly cooldown automatically activates between both groups.

B7.1

Engaging in combat between groups during the 5-minute group switching cooldown is prohibited.

B8 Meshing & Bug Exploits

B8.1

Exploiting map glitches, texture voids, terrain bugs, or any unintended game mechanics is prohibited. This includes hiding in rocks, water glitch, clipping through terrain, or abusing any bug for advantage.

Note: If you have water glitch, you must retreat from the water for as long as the fight takes place. Once the fight is over, you must relog as soon as possible.

Exception: Glitched female crocodiles with a nest do not need to relog, but they are not allowed to join hunts or fights in water. Once the nest is no longer needed, the glitched female crocodile must also relog.

B8.2

Animals cannot hide part of their body behind or inside a rock, or underwater, in a way that makes it impossible to be seen or hit.

B8.3

Animals cannot hide their body or part of their body in other animals in a way that makes it impossible to be seen or hit, or that does not involve the other player.

Example: Hiding your back legs behind/in a rock so the opponent can only reach your head is not allowed.

Note: This rule does not apply to aquatic animals using water as their Natural Advantage. They may use water normally according to their species rights.

B9 Forced Provocation

B9.1

Any action intended to provoke an attack, conflict, or any kind of reaction is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Spamming Call 3 or other calls to bait a reaction.
  • Intentionally violating Personal Space without intent to attack.
  • Repeatedly entering and exiting another animal’s territory or space.
  • Persistent following or stalking without engaging.
  • Repeatedly landing single hits and fleeing with the intent to bait a reaction, rather than engaging in combat.
  • Repeatedly humping another player after their 3 call and/or warning in global chat.
  • Humping players while they have active body protection.
  • Picking up a player without the intention to kill them.
  • Any other behavior clearly aimed at forcing a hostile response.

Note: If a player already has body protection, you may warn them (3 call and/or global chat) and, if they do not listen, attack them — but you may not chase them off.

B10 Resource Blocking

B10.1

Blocking access to essential resources (food, body, carcass, water, healing plants) is prohibited. Players may not intentionally prevent others from eating or drinking.

Note: You cannot claim personal space next to a body, carcass, healing plants, or water.

Exception: Crocodiles may block water access while actively hunting.

B11 Pre- and Post-Restart Hunting

B11.1

Before and after a server restart, all players are prohibited from hunting or initiating combat for 5 minutes. This cooldown allows players to hide and safelog / reconnect and regroup without immediate threat.

5

Body Protection

Guarding a body, and who may steal from one.

BP1 Body Protection

BP1.1

While having a body, you cannot hunt or be hunted — you must stay 1 rhino length in every direction from your body.

BP1.2

At least one group member must remain near the body or chunks for protection to remain active. Abandoning a body is considered a rule break.

BP1.3

It’s strictly prohibited to hide chunks or a body. For a body to grant protection, the chunks must be on the ground and clearly visible. Carrying chunks while moving does not grant protection.

BP1.4

A body is defined as:

  • 2–5 chunks,
  • Medium or large gore (also counts without chunks),
  • Body of a dead player (without chunks),
  • An AI gazelle.

BP2 Stealing On Body Protection

Stealing is restricted to specific species and may only be performed under specific conditions.

Eligible stealers
Leopards, Cheetahs, Warthogs, Hyenas, Wild dogs, Snakes, Meerkats, every bird
BP2.1

Stealing by non-eligible species is prohibited.

BP2.2

Stealing cubs is strictly prohibited.

BP2.3

Chunks may only be stolen if there are at least 2 chunks remaining after the theft.

6

Combat & Encounters

How fights start and end, contests, cooldowns, third parties, and combat logging.

C1 Combat Rules

Combat begins when an animal attempts to land a hit on another or when a crocodile attempts a grab.

Combat ends immediately upon the death of a player. The death must be announced using group 1 call and global chat to ensure all involved parties are aware.

C1.1

Any attack delivered after a body down, within reasonable context, will be considered a rule break.

Note: Spamming 1 calls during combat when there is no body counts as trolling. An AI gazelle body counts as end of combat.

The victorious group receives the body from the encounter. The losing group receives nothing and must leave the area. If the defeated group remains in the area while the timer is still active, the winning group is allowed to attack them.

C1.2

If the defeated group starts running away and refuses to fight back, the winning group must stop chasing and return to their body.

C1.3

Grabbing and carrying a pig in the jaws during combat is restricted. Only sub-adult and adult crocodiles are permitted to grab and carry a pig. All other species are prohibited from grabbing pigs in their jaws during an encounter.

C2 Contest

A contestation, or formal combat, occurs when a player challenges another player who currently possesses body protection.

C2.1

To initiate a contestation, the challenging player must use Call 3 (or Call 5 for male lion) and wait 10 seconds for the opponent’s response.

C2.2

If you wish to contest again the body of a defeated group member after a contest ends, you must declare your intention within 10 seconds of the body falling.

When challenged, the opposing player must respond within 10 seconds. Acceptable responses include:

  • Attacking immediately,
  • Using Call 3 (or Call 5 for male lion) to formally accept the challenge,
  • Using Call 4 to surrender and/or walk away (1 rhino length from the body).

Important: No response within the 10-second window grants the opposing group permission to attack without any warning. After acceptance, Call 4 (surrender) is no longer valid, and the fight ends only with the death of a participant.

C3 Encounter Cooldown

An encounter is defined as any structured conflict between groups, including:

  • A hunt,
  • A formal contestation (combat),
  • Defense of personal space.

The duration of an encounter determines the cooldown period before the same groups may engage again. Durations escalate with consecutive encounters:

EncounterCooldown
First timer10 minutes
Second timer15 minutes
Third timer30 minutes

After the third timer (30 minutes), it resets to first (10 minutes) for the next engagement.

C3.1

Once an encounter concludes, a cooldown timer applies to both involved groups. During this cooldown, the same groups may not:

  • Engage each other in combat,
  • Chase or follow each other outside the permitted exception.

Exception: During an active hunt, a carnivore may continue chasing a herbivore as long as it stays within 3 rhino lengths. If the distance exceeds 3 rhino lengths, the chase must stop and the fight ends.

C4 Third Parties

C4.1

Any attempt to involve third parties in order to terminate original combat, render it invalid, or avoid continuation of a previously initiated fight will be considered a rule break.

C4.2

Inviting or adding players to a group during ongoing combat is not permitted. All group invitations must be made before combat begins. Inviting players while a fight is already in progress is a rule break.

C5 Combat Logging

C5.1

Leaving the game or disconnecting during active combat to avoid consequences is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Exiting the game while engaged in or fleeing from a fight,
  • Disconnecting to deny a kill or prevent a body from dropping.

Combat is considered active from the moment combat is initiated until the conflict has clearly ended with retreat, death, or cooldown.

Reporting Rules

What a valid report ticket needs.

Evidence Requirements

All report tickets must include an unedited video recording of the rule violation. The recording must not contain any cuts, pauses, or edits that could compromise staff’s ability to assess the situation properly.

The video must clearly capture:

  1. The moments leading up to the rulebreak — establishing context and positioning of involved parties,
  2. The rulebreak itself — the moment the violation occurs,
  3. The end of combat — including logs/death screen.

Important: For a video to be valid it must be 1 minute in length.

This three-part structure ensures accurate and fair interpretation of the incident.

Logs and Additional Evidence

Logs/death screen are mandatory and must be clearly visible within the report video.

Note: Screenshots may be used as supplementary evidence only. If included, they must also be shown within the video.

Exception: Screenshots alone are accepted when reporting bullying/harassment and other chat rule breaks.
